Pride Month
June is Pride Month, when the world's 2SLGBTQ+ communities come together and celebrate the freedom to be themselves. It is a time when we celebrate diversity and the 2SLGBTQ+ communities, acknowledge their history, the hardships they have endured, and the progress that has been made.
We encourage our customers to come out to Pride events and take the TTC to Pride celebrations across the city.

This year, the TTC is the “Official Tourism Partner of the 2022 Pride Toronto Festival”. Pride Toronto is a not-for-profit organization that supports the 2SLGBTQ+ communities in the pursuit of their unequivocal rights to be known, be heard, be understood, be accepted, be respected, and to celebrate the beauty of who they are. Pride Toronto is the largest Pride Festival in Canada, welcoming two million attendees, showcasing 300+ artists, and hosting over 100+ unique events. They have developed a platform where members of 2SLGBTQ+ communities can be their authentic selves, where allies can show their support and where we demonstrate the true diversity of this great city.
As part of the TTC’s Pride Month celebrations, we have wrapped a number of buses including a Wheel-Trans vehicle. One of the buses will run exclusively on the 94 Wellesley route and will participate in the Pride parade on Sunday, June 26. The second wrapped bus will operate on various routes throughout the city and the Wheel-Trans vehicle will operate in regular service.
On June 1, we will raise the Progress flag at the TTC’s Head Office (1900 Yonge St.) and at the Hillcrest Yard (1138 Bathurst St.) to help kick off our Pride celebrations. Throughout the month, a wrapped bus will tour to various TTC locations so employees can show their pride and join in on the celebrations. Employees will also have an opportunity to share their own lived experiences on TTC employee communication channels.
Pride Month is an important time for us to reflect on the work we’re doing to build a more inclusive and equitable TTC.
